Date of tasting: 16/04/2010
Location: Old School Wines
From 7.00pm - 9.00pm
Perhaps the 'Holy Grail' of the wine business is good Bordeaux (or Claret as we Brits call it) at an affordable price.
No region of the world produces more (so called) Fine Wine, but unfortunately Bordeaux's 8,000 or so chateaux and its rather variable climate can sometimes mean that finding a good value bottle can be something of a challenge.
Our tasting will feature wines from the 'Left Bank' (e.g. Medoc) and 'Right Bank' (e.g. St Emilion) as well as a small 'vertical' from Chateau Rousseau de Sipian one of our best ever finds.
There are wines that have youthful 'grip' that could be 'laid-down' for a few years and there are wines that are mature and are superb drinking right now.
The full list of wines to be tasted will include:
Chateau la Croix des Moines, Lalande de Pomerol 2005
Chateau Croix de Rambeau, Lussac St. Emilion 2006
Chateau Labadie, Cru Bourgeois Medoc 2005
Chateau du Pavillon, Canon Fronsac 2004
Chateau Lasalle (Potensac), Medoc 2000
Chateau Rousseau de Sipian Medoc 2002
Chateau Rousseau de Sipian Medoc 2003
Chateau Rousseau de Sipian Medoc 2004
Chateau Rousseau de Sipian Medoc 2005
There will also be a small selection of white and Rose from the Bordeaux region.
Places for this tasting are limited to 35 and are priced at £5 per person and are 'first come first served'. Looking forward to seeing you there!
