Stone Food and Drink Festival

Location: The Far End of the Gourmet Marquee
Perhaps the biggest event in the calendar of the town of Stone is this weekends Food & Drink Festival, and Old School Wines will be supporting the event with 5 fantastic stands in the Gourmet Marquee and Andrew will be participating in a cookery demonstration in the Demonstration Marquee on Saturday lunchtime.(not to be missed!)
Cognac & Armagnac Tasting
We're delighted to have Neil Monyard of Compass Cognac on one of our stands showing a range of Fine Cognac's Armagnac's and Pineau des Charentes from Chateau de Beaulon. All are available to taste for a nominal fee, and Neil who has over 30 years experience as a Cognac Blender, taster and general expert, and he will be on hand to guide you through these wonderful spirits.
Single Malt Whisky Tasting
Back by popular request after the success of last years event, resident Whisky Expert Dave Pickard will be showing a selection of Single Malt Whisky's from the Old School range on his stand. Highlights include 2 single Malts from the AMRUT distillery in India.
Wines from Near & Far
As usual there will be a great range of wines to taste, and as we did last year there is an area of tables and chairs on the Old School main stand, so it's a great place to 'park' and enjoy some great wines with some of the foods on offer near by.
A few of the wines on offer will include:
3 wines brilliant new wines from Uruguay
Ian 'Beefy' Botham's 'Botham-Merill-Willis' McLaren Vale Shiraz
The amazing Vina Caterina Portugese white
A 'stunning' South African Sauvignon Blanc
An organic Malbec from Chile (that tastes like it's from Argentina!)
Around 20 wines to taste by-the-glass all day, all weekend.
Great selection of Fizz's to enjoy 'by-the-glass' including:
Polish Hill River sparkling Riesling from Australia
Pinot Grigio 'Blush' Spumante (it had to happen!)
Prosecco, Prosecco, Prosecco........
Australian Sparkling Red
Glasses of the 'real McCoy' from Champagne including glasses of Louis Roederer for the indugent.
Old School Wine Related Gifts
Clare will be taking along the new seasons wine related gifts plus a few old favourites.
She's been busy ransacking the inventories of suppliers to famous department stores in order to find some 'show specials': bargains especially for Stone Food & Drink Festival.
