"Vertical" Claret Tasting
Date of tasting: 06/11/2010
Location: Old School House, Tittensor, ST12 9HA
As our new shipment from Chateau Rousseau de Sipian rolled into the Old School House this week, we thought it high time that we showed all of the available vintages side-by-side in what's called a 'vertical' tasting (and oh yes! and by the way there is such a thing as a horizontal tasting; Andrew would be happy to elaborate....)
Chateau Rousseau de Sipian is located in the far north of the Medoc region of 'left bank' Bordeaux.
A magnificent chateau designed by the same architect as Chateau Pichon-Baron in Pauillac, the property was bought in 2000 by 'Brit' Christopher Racey who promptly set about investing some of his millions in the restoration of the property and the 9 ha of vineyards.
He also took the shrewd step of employing one of the brightest young stars of the Bordeaux wine making scene Nicolas Delacressonniere, who has rapidly established the chateau as one of the best value Medoc wines available.
If you've ever wondered what difference 'the year' makes to a Bordeaux wine, then this is a facinating tasting. Five consecutive vintages are available to taste side by side.
