Distilled from 47 regional Botanicals (that explains the 47).Wing Commander Montgomery "Monty" Collins left the RAF after the war and helped in the rebuilding of Berlin Zoo, whilst there he formed a bond with an Egret Monkey named Max.He named his guesthouse in The Black Forest (South Western Germany) 'Zum wilden Affen' (The Wild Monkey) then during renovation work at the turn of the century a wooden box containing a letter and a bottle of home-made gin was found in the basement......Phew, the letter said "Max the Monkey, Schwarzwald Dry Gin" and included a list of 47 Botanicals. This is a Gin made to that recipe. (And I think that explains the name too!)Anyway despite that charming yet slightly non sequential story, this is an amazingly well made Gin that is exceedingly popular! Well done Monty and Max! The Gin Jamboree Team suggests it with Fentimans and pink grapefruit.
